About Sioban CoppingerSioban studied sculpture at Bath Academy of Art and graduated with an honours degree in Sculpture in 1977. In the early years of her career she made figures for waxworks or display, as well as assisting and enlarging work for established sculptors. Working in large studios and foundries in this way served as a kind of apprenticeship. This allowed her to acquire skills and experience, as well as develop new techniques of her own.
After a decade and a half of success in the challenging field of publicly sited sculpture - the move to a large versatile studio/workshop provides a practical stimulus. It enables Sioban to draw, design and make all under one roof - anything from a 5 meter figure to a life size mouse.
Sioban`s work often combines an acute observation of people and animals with an affectionate, and sometimes wry view of both
